Best Practice Flow

Start with a short progression, optimize the path, then play each card slowly until the changes feel automatic.

1. Choose your instrument

Use the instrument controls on the practice page first. Bass modes and guitar modes use different placement rules.

2. Build a route

Enter two or more chords in the Chord Path card. The optimizer favors lower movement between shapes.

3. Inspect one shape

Use the Selected Chord card to focus on the current fingering. Pick a route card or chord shape to update it.

4. Customize the desk

Drag a card left or right of another card to make a two-column row. Drop it above or below another card to make both full-width; an unpaired half-width card also returns to full-width automatically.

Tips

When shapes feel too hard

Lower max fret or max span in Settings. Raise them again when you want more color or smoother voice leading.

When learning a song

Open Progression library inside Chord Path to load an example or saved progression, then save the current path when it feels useful.

When practicing scales

Open Scales after choosing a chord or song key. Keep it collapsed when you only want chord movement.
